Stick a fork in us?

As with most families we gathered at Mom's for the Thanksgiving feast. My sister, brother and his girlfriend, two of my three kids, Mom, Dad and I sat at a table filled with the wonders of a traditional Thanksgiving meal. One of the tradition started somewhere in our past is the blessing given for this once yearly feast is given by a different family member each year. My sister two years prior then my brother last year and in proper rotation it was my privilege this year. Usually the prayers consisted of the usual things to be thankful for, family friends, and health and with a quick mention of the food on the table Amen would be said and the feast would begin but this year would be a little different and so I began to pray.

Dear Lord thank you for again letting our family come together to give you thanks for all you have given to us. Thank you Lord for the wonderful world that you have bestowed upon us. Thank you for the great, and vast oceans so blue. Thank you for all the creatures who live within it's life giving waters.

Thank you. oh Lord, for the mountains majesty and the amber waves of grains throughout the great plains and Lord thank you for the wonderful variety of life we find on this amazing blue ball we call earth.

Dear Lord we thank you for all that you have given to us and we give praise to thee as we seek thou guidance as we strive to do your will.

Lord and God, father of all, we thank thee for all of this but Lord we thank you most for government. Lord we thank thee for bestowing on us, through the founding fathers, a great and benevolent government for and by the people.  A government that secures the rights given to us by you lord, promising never to infringe on those rights. Through your blessings on this government, in the Constitution, we have been blessed with a wonderful bounty and the Horn of Plenty.

We thank thee Lord for a government that cares so much for us in our times of need. From hunger and homelessness, to earthquakes, floods, tornadoes and hurricanes it is government that we turn to as your gracious surrogate and we thank you for their compassion for their fellow men.

Lord we give thanks today for the moral guidance you have given to our government and those we elected. It is only through government that our great civil society has grown to care for all our needs as you would have us do unto others.  Lord we thank you for a government that requires everybody to share the rewards of a free civil society with the less fortunate among us. We as a majority have decided this to be your will and will spare no expense as your will shall be done.  Thank you for a government that punishes those who refuse to support the government's noble cause.

Thank you, Creator of Heaven and Earth, for government that without which the world would plummet into the bowels of Hell.

We thank you for government without which roaming gangs would rape, rob, and pillage the country, murder would abound and Anarchy would reign.

Thank you Lord for government laws, rules and regulations provided us in order to clarify those Ten Commandments which Moses brought down from the mountain so long ago.

We also thank you, Lord for the stern hand of discipline used by government upon your people much as a parent with a child.

We understand that it is through government that we as individuals come together for the greater good of all mankind.

Thank you for our justice system which swiftly punishes those who would not conform to the moral guidance of our government inspired by your word.

Thank you for the FDA for assuring that the food on this table is safe and the drugs we use are not harmful to us save the side effects.

Thank you for the EPA without which we would surely over whelm mother earth with pollution.

Thank you, Lord for Homeland Security, FEMA, ATF, FBI, CIA, DOD, HUD, EDA, FHA, And the hundreds of other government agencies that look after our every need and want.

Thank you for the Federal Reserve without which we would not be able to have a stable economic environment.

We thank you, Lord, for inspiring a living, breathing, and ever changing Constitution which to set our moral compass.

We thank you for granting the moral authority to our government to spread democracy around the world and increase our empire by the use of coercion and force.

Thank you God for giving forgiveness for the loss of innocent lives as we seek to spread our goodness around the globe.

Thank you Lord for all the bridges, roads, schools, airplanes, trains, boats, and all the things we would not have if not for government.

Lord we ask that you help guide those in government as they seek a new world order and one world government. We ask that you guide our leaders to do what is best for the greater good of all over the needs of the individual.

We understand, dear Lord, that it is only through our government's benevolent compassion and constant protection that we are to survive and thrive.

Lord, we have so much to be thankful for on this day I find them far to many to list and so I shall end this prayer with this, Thank you for everything government.

From sea to shining sea, from the mountains purple majesty, from the thousand outposts around the world, from the welfare checks to social security, from indefinite detention to the War on Drugs, Lord, we thank thee for government.  From safety checkpoints to bank bailouts we thank thee for government.

We ask that you look after and protect our government from all those who speak against her and those who wish to change or abolish it.

May God bless this food and the government that assured that it is safe for us to eat, Amen.

The silence was golden as my prayer sunk in and everyone at the table realized what I had long ago realized: we have substituted government for God in our lives.

What were you thankful to government for this Thanksgiving?

Issue #25.46 :: 11/14/2012 - 11/20/2012
Karma Bites Jake on His Big, Fat Cheeks

BY KEVIN FISHER

The irony is rich, so delicious, even perfect: Jake Knotts sowed the seed of his own destruction.

Moreover, he then fertilized that seed and watched it grow. But in the end, he reaped what he had sown. It’s in the Bible, Jake. You can look it up, Galatians 6.

The bad seed Knotts put in the political ground of South Carolina came to be known as the Ballot Bomb, a process that started when a political ally of Knotts filed a lawsuit to knock his opponent off the ballot on a filing technicality — and that eventually took down some 250 other candidates across the state.

Knotts then fertilized that bad seed by single-handedly blocking an attempt to correct the problem in the state Senate (after the House had passed the necessary repair), making for a lost legislative election cycle in South Carolina.  . . .

From John Tate:

I know it's late.

But I just walked out of a meeting with some Senate insiders, and I'm still steaming mad at what I heard.

Members of both parties are scheming to ram through the so-called "Cybersecurity" Bill.

If passed, this scheme will virtually guarantee companies engage in more invasions of our privacy.

I know it's late, but I need you to call your senators first thing tomorrow morning and tell them you haven't fallen asleep just because the elections have come and gone.

You can call your senators at:

Sen. Jim DeMint
(202) 224-6121

Sen. Lindsey Graham
(202) 224-5972

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

The race for the White House,  "the most important election in our lifetime" is now over. Almost two billion was spent by the two parties and their affiliated PACS all for one reason and that was not the white house.

Millions of voters flocked to the polls to choose who would lead the country, a big government Democrat or the big government Republican. The Democrats ran the same big government guy they won with the last time and why not he had beaten McCain handily in 2008? The republicans on the other hand picked a guy who in 2008 lost in the primary to the guy who Obama had already defeated. Brilliant move wouldn’t you say?

If you are a republican this should cause some alarm, after all if Romney could not defeat John McCain why would anyone believe that Mittens could even stand a chance against the Bamster?

It suffices to say that the last two republican presidential candidates were the worst possible pick that could have possibly been made which leads those Republicans with half a brain to ask, “Were these candidates picked to win or were they picked to lose?

This question is mainly asked to one’s self as to speak it in Republican company would garner a negative response.  Ask a Republican this question and you will get many responses including “He won the primaries was our nominee, we had no other choice.”  Others used the “We have to support Romney or the country is done as justification to support what they knew was a weak candidate.

While Republicans look for excuses for the loss they will not even entertain the idea that the fix may have already been in long before they went to the polls just a week ago.

They cannot entertain the idea that maybe they were conned, manipulated, and bought in order to support a loser but if you can ever get one to sit down and look closely at the campaigns and where the money was spent all leading to the second term of Barack Obama they would find their faith in their party shaken to its core.

The fact is the big money, the banks and Wall Street, backed Romney from the day John McCain lost his bid for the White House. Mittens was by far the best financed candidate on the Republican side throughout the primary season. This fact should lead a curious Republican, of which there are only a few, to wonder why? The man with the money usually wins.

The media made Romney the front runner long before the primaries began. He was covered many times more than any other Republican contender from the beginning all the way through to the convention and his subsequent nomination.

The old saying “tell a lie long enough and it will become the truth” is applicable in the case of Romney and his failed run for president.

Whoever was finally elected really did not matter because no matter which side wins it is big government that wins.

The American people think they have a real choice in the two parties but when you cut through the issues they use to divide us they are the same. They, both Republicans and Democrats are for big all-powerful government and against personal liberty for those two things cannot coexist. When one grows the other must shrink. Americans by voting for R or D are in fact voting against their own personal freedom. They are forced to vote for the lesser of the two evils or the one who promises the most help from the government.

Those who voted for Mitt did not believe what he said he would do. They did not believe the Republican Party when it said it would be the party for fiscal responsibility. Those who voted for Romney voted for one reason, they thought him to be the lesser of the two evils.

If there was a real small government party it would have put up a real candidate and not yet another loser in the McCain mold.

Those who voted and thought they were really choosing freely should not feel bad.  I understand.  I, too, have been had. I even once thought there was a Tooth Fairy and a Santa Claus.

Sen. Courson Blindsiding Conservatives? PDF Print E-mail

The South Carolina Senate is breaking with tradition and meeting to organize, make committee assignments, and change the rules of the Senate on December 5th of this year rather than the first day of the session in January according to Senate President Pro Tempore John Courson (R-Richland). Because the Senate does not ordinarily meet in December except to consider emergency legislation, this surprise organizational session blindsided some Senators — in particular the ones who are not career politicians who have other commitments to their employers.

Why would Sen. Courson do this?

One Senator upset at the surprise organizational session speculates, “This is nothing more than an attempt to keep Conservatives out of the conversation and an attempt to change the rules for their benefit.”

He also points out, “The ones who are old, retired, etc. can attend and make the rules however they want without input from those of us who have to work and schedule our lives around the Senate Session.”

Senators earn a salary of only $10,400 per year meaning those who are not self-employed or independently wealthy generally have to continue earning a living independent of their Senate responsibilities. The Senate is almost never in session in December absent a need for emergency legislation. This unorthodox schedule for organizing the new Senate unexpectedly (and unnecessarily) creates a need for time off for those members of the Senate trying to provide for their families.

“It is too hard to get good people to run for office that actually have a real job (not a career politician) to have them hindered by the President Pro Tem of the Senate.  18 Democrats will join with 6 so called Republicans and change the rules to limit our conservative minority,” says the same Senator.

Why break with tradition and place this hardship on the non-career politicians in the chamber? Are they hoping they won’t show up? Why can’t this be done on the first day of the session in January? It isn’t as if this is some sudden emergency that warrants such a dramatic change. We can only conclude that this is an attempt to weaken opposition to the rules changes that the Senator quoted above expects will be enacted to silence the few conservatives remaining in the South Carolina Senate.
