It looks as though I have some competition in parody artwork aimed at Jake Knotts.  These cards have been showing up all over Lexington County in and near SC Senate District 23 and getting quite a few chuckles.  The word I got is that someone else in another part of the state created these cards and had them printed up--and he obviously has his own take on Jake Knotts' position in the scheme of things regarding heaven, hell, and earth.  The front of the business card (shown above) lists Jake Knotts as "Satan's Senior Consultant" and lists his government office address and telephone number.  The other side has flames with the motto, "Where the Devil goes for advice . . . " and has a quote from Lucifer, '"When I'm in a tough spot, I find myself asking what would Jake do?"'

Politically, Jake Knotts has certainly been hell for taxpayers in the state, spending like a drunken Democrat (only switching parties c. 1990 in order to get elected as Democrats fell out of favor).  Jake Knotts certainly doesn't have a conservative bone in his body. In fact, more than anything, his whole being, body and soul, is for sale.  It's mostly a matter of his being very, very liberal with the taxpayers' money which is, of course, the essence of a big government liberal.  He doesn't belong in the Republican Party.  He doesn't even meet the definition of a conservative Democrat.  He's the worst sort of liberal, voting to increase spending at an incredible rate as the general assembly continues to dig the fiscal hole ever deeper as obligations mount along with spending and the acceptance of federal funds with their accompanying mandates.  When the collapse comes, you can be sure Jake Knotts will be blaming everyone but himself.

In moral terms, Jake Knotts also fulfills the worst of Lucifer's characteristics as the great deceiver: habitually lying and using people's intrinsic goodness against them (as when he takes credit for on-the-record voting after having fought it tooth and nail) or, when finding any sort of moral weakness in his victims, exploiting the character flaw to the point of eventually owning the person's soul.  Jake Knotts does this under the guise of "constituent services" by ingratiating himself with others, offering them unasked-for favors and then making demands upon them when he's ready to cash in on his previous gifts.  His alternative method, probably a more usual tactic for him, is to take advantage of multiple, slow-moving bureaucracies that purposely put off certain actions where permits or licenses  or other services are needed.  No doubt, Jake makes a phone call ahead of time and lets the necessary bureaucrats know that they need to drag their heels in certain cases.  Jake then "rides to their rescue" and makes the bureaucracy work the way it was supposed to in the first place, that is, simply doing their stinking job, and thereby puts the constituent forever in his pocket.  There are multiple cases that have been reported to this writer concerning this tactic as he has reported on in the past.

While souls are not necessarily Jake Knotts' stock-in-trade; favors, votes, and campaign contributions definitely are.  We, the People, of Lexington County and the State of South Carolina are indeed fighting evil in government.  The demons are politicians and lobbyists who portray themselves as angels anointed to rule over man, micromanaging people's affairs and plucking the money from people's wallets with their long claws and casting it into the cauldrons of equally evil corporations sucking the blood out of the economy in order to enrich the moneyed elites.  This is fascism and it is evil no matter what pretty technocratic words are slapped on it (labels such as "incentives," "public-private partnerships," "job creation," etc.)  Jake Knotts may not be Lucifer Satan himself, but, as the card indicates, he's definitely Satan's top consultant in South Carolina.  It's time for Jake Knotts to return to his own self-made hell on earth and to leave governance to those of us who really respect the God-given rights of the people of this state and county.
