A message to my fellow conservative Lexington County Republicans:

[Please note: this message is from me, Lee Canaday, on my own initiative, recommending Bill Rentiers for Lexington County GOP Chairman.  I am solely responsible for the contents--L.C.]

BILL RENTIERS FOR LEXINGTON COUNTY CHAIRMAN!

I've known Bill Rentiers, a fellow military veteran, for over ten years and in all those years, he has been an activist working to restore our unalienable, God-given rights. His dedication to the cause has led him to the position of GrassRoots Gun Rights Executive Officer for several years working to expand our right to keep and bear arms. In more recent years, Bill has taken on the position of President of the Red Bank Precinct for the Lexington County Republican Party.

Philosophically, Bill Rentiers is a true conservative. His positions are based on carefully thought-out ideas about what governance consistent with our basic human dignity should be like. He's all about the cause. He is the ideal of a true fighter for conservatism.

Among Bill's strengths are the following:

1. Bill Rentiers is consistent. Bill shows up for the meetings.

2. Bill works for a living. He's one of us and he understands our problems and what we have to go through just to make ends meet. He has worked extra hard in order to have a schedule where he can dedicate a good portion of his free time to serve as Chairman.

3. Bill's immediate family and his roots are from South Carolina and he spent a lot of time here over the years growing up. After his time in the U.S. Army, Bill came back home to settle down in South Carolina for good.

4. Bill Rentiers has a lot of experience dealing with politicians. Through his advocacy work for protecting and expanding our gun rights here in South Carolina, Bill has had a lot of experience dealing with legislators and the legislative process. He reads the laws and understands what the objects of the laws are and how they work.

5. Bill is the only candidate running who has experience running a large organization with thousands of members and keeping things focused. He's not a newbie and we're very lucky, in my opinion, to have him willing to serve as Chairman.

6. Bill has experience raising money and recruiting members through his work in the past with Grass Roots Gun Rights. Bill is also a great writer and has written many articles for the organization's periodical.

7. I know Bill. He's willing to work when there's not a meeting going on. He will be switched on for the party at all times. He won't go into meetings uninformed and expecting to do things on the fly. However, when new business or problems do crop up, Bill's very adept at taking a very logical course in dealing with them and not letting things get out of control.

Of Bill's opponents, both very nice fellows, one is a recent immigrant to the country who has been working in D.C. for many years and has only moved to Lexington County in the last few months. I congratulate him on his becoming an American citizen last year but I hardly think we need someone so completely inexperienced with the workings of our state and county. The other fellow I admire and respect as well and we agree on many things but he's a self-professed "moderate."

Lexington County needs a conservative chairman who will fight for our rights that are under attack from the liberals in D.C. and in the statehouse. As most of you now realize, many battles are being lost by the do-nothing GOP in D.C. but we can win here at home if we make the state interpose between the citizens and an unconstitutional, out-of-control federal government. Bill Rentiers is dedicated to that fight.

So, there you have it. We have exactly one choice for Lexington County GOP Chairman who knows the state and county, who can run the party, run the meetings, raise money, recruit members, and is morally courageous and willing to stand up to the liberals. If our party is going to survive and even thrive during bad times, we need someone willing to fight for us.

Please vote for and elect Bill Rentiers for Lexington County Republican Party Chairman!

Irresponsible.

It’s your money.  But they think it is “free money”.

Theirs for the taking.

Bill Bannning, 661-4822, wants to raise an additional $35 million in taxes per year from Lexington County.

What’s worse is he’s not even sure how he wants to spend it all.

Isn’t it bad enough that we’ve got a Congress that raises our taxes by $600 billion in the middle of the night?

State spending has gone up by nearly a billion dollars a year.

And now Lexington County wants to get in on the action.

So Bill Banning, who the Free Times reported as “one of the lead speakers” at a strategic planning event, is lining up support for jacking up the sales tax.

He’s promising some of your money to everyone to buy their support.

The State newspaper quotes Pine Ridge Mayor David Busby, 755-2500, “We’ll get a piece of the pie.”

Banning promised, “There has to be a package for every community.”

It’s your hard earned money that he is throwing around!

And it’s being used like bribe money!

If we don’t stop this IMMEDIATELY, we’re going to have a long fight on our hands to keep our hard earned money in our own pocket.

That’s why we must organize NOW.

Stop Banning's Tax Increase

And as a first step, we need as many people as possible to sign the petition to Lexington County Council at www.LCCW.org.

They are soft selling this new tax as a ballot proposal.

“We’ll put it before the people of the county and let them decide,” is the refrain they’ll use to deflect opposition.

But, we can’t let them get away with that.

You see, what they would like to hide is that Lexington County Council will have to vote to put this tax hike on the ballot.

This is where it must be stopped . . .

. . . before it makes it to the ballot.

Once the big spenders have this new tax on the ballot, they’ll use county tax dollars to “educate” the voters about the proposed new tax.

What kind of education do you think that will be?

They will “educate” the public about all the great things they will be able to do with your money.

If this makes it to the ballot, do you think we will have the money and resources to combat the barrage of propaganda from the county and its 14 municipalities who want the tax increase to pass?

And don’t forget all the non-governmental organizations that will profit from your tax money!

They’ll throw their support behind the tax increase, too!

Our unfortunate neighbors in Richland County failed to stop a similar tax increase once it got on the 2012 ballot.

They simply didn’t have the resources to fight the big spenders who profit from your taxes.  And we won’t either.

We MUST stop this NOW!

Not only is this tax increase bad for your pocket book . . .

. . . it’s bad for business.

The more folks are paying in taxes, the less they have to spend with local Lexington County small businesses.

Stop Banning's Tax Increase

Please sign the Lexington County Citizen’s Watch petition to stop Banning’s tax increase TODAY.

If it gets on the ballot I fear it will be too late.

We’ve gotta find as many people as possible who are opposed to this tax and work fast to defeat it before it makes it to the ballot.

So, after you sign the petition, forward this e-mail to EVERYONE you know in Lexington and ask them to join you as a signer.

Because Banning and his cohorts don’t know what they are going to spend the money on, they are free to promise some of it to everyone.

I’m not sure what’s worse . . .

. . . Is it the fact that they are trying to figure out how to spend tax money that they don’t even have yet . . .

. . . or is it that they are trying to use our own money to bribe us into giving them more of our money?

Here is what some of the Lexington leaders are saying about the new tax:
  • “There’s no shortage of things that need to get done” – Cayce Mayor Elise Partin, 361-8280.
  • “It’s an investment in our future” – Lexington Mayor Randy Halfacre, 359-6113.
  • “It’s got to be something for everybody for it to have enough support” – County Councilman Jim Kinard, 600-6175.
  • “We’ll get a piece of the pie” – Pine Ridge Mayor David Busby, 755-2500.
  • “There’s always people out there who will say, no, no, no.” – Lexington County Councilman Johnny Jeffcoat, 509-3089
Sign the petition to stop them NOW.

You see, Banning and many of his fellow big spending partners forget that it is your money they are promising.

It’s time to remind them!

They will promise the world to every community in the county to buy their support.

It must be stopped!

“We are going to have to prove that we are going to do something for them!” Banning told the 100 or so municipal and county representatives, chamber of commerce and non-profit leaders at the meeting where they were mapping out the strategy for getting more of your money.

Pelion Mayor Charles Haggard, 894-3535, said it’s a question of, “if they can come up with enough benefit for these [rural] areas.”

We MUST stop this NOW!

If it gets on the ballot I fear it will be too late.

NOW is the time to organize against this tax increase.

Our first step is to find as many people as possible who oppose this new tax.

Stop Banning's Tax Increase

The Lexington County Citizen’s Watch petition is the way to find people who are opposed to the tax.  Then we’ll have a ready army to defeat this sales tax hike.

So, sign it, and share the link to the petition with everyone you know in Lexington County!  It’s at www.LCCW.org.

Then call your mayor and your county councilman and let them know where you stand.

You can find your county councilman by clicking here.

Be polite, but be firm.

Let them know that you won’t be bribed with other people’s tax money and that you won’t let your money be used to bribe others.

As news develops, I’ll let you and every petition signer know immediately so we can put a halt to Banning’s tax increase.

Thanks for your support and for all you do!

From FitsNews.com:

FORMER STATE SENATOR HIRED TO CONSULT FOR VIDEO POKER GROUP

It didn’t take long for former S.C. Sen. Jakie Knotts to land on his feet …

The rotund “Republican in Name Only” – who was defeated by petition candidate Katrina Shealy in his bid for reelection earlier this month – has been hired as a consultant for a company that sells “Magic Minutes” video poker machines.

“Magic Minutes” are machines that sell prepaid calling cards as a pretext for facilitating video poker.  They have been declared illegal by judges in several South Carolina counties, although they are operational in Lexington County – which Knotts’ has represented in the S.C. General Assembly since 1995.

Please read the rest of the story by clicking here:  http://www.fitsnews.com

If Jake Knotts & Co. are not prosecuted, it just goes to show how corrupt the entire system is and not that there's nothing to it.  If you're in Lexington County and have been paying attention and asking questions, you know Knotts is involved and that the accusations have some truth behind them.  It's just that no one in critical positions of power, including Knotts' buddy, Alan Wilson, is willing to go after them--so far.  We'll see what happens.

If members of the general assembly didn't have an iron grip on the judicial system and had been subject to the law the rest of us are, I think we'd have seen Knotts and others in jail by now.  The fact that nothing is happening so far is just a very bad sign on how bad things still are and probably will remain for quite some time.

Knotts going into the position of lobbyist makes perfect sense due to the fact that he's admitted investigating and getting dirt on his enemies.  The reason his shenanigans have been tolerated in the statehouse for so long is that he's got the goods on quite a few men in power there.  He'll use extortion, or the implied threat of extortion, as leverage to get bills passed to his advantage and enrichment.  Same game the corporate welfare fascist pig has always been playing.  He's just changed positions.

Victory is sweet!

Knotts has a stake driven through his heart! He is unelected, humiliated in front of all his drinking and gambling buddies.

Jake Knotts has had his manhood removed and handed to him on a silver platter. He is a eunuch as far as South Carolina politics is concerned.  His usefulness to the White Trash Mafia is practically nil.  He has nowhere to go, nothing to do but sit on the front porch and rot.

Knotts went all in, pulled every possible stunt, legal and illegal, and spent every dime and still lost. I shall dance (and other things) upon his political grave. Let us rejoice for the first good ol' boy has gone down in flames (and no doubt will continue to burn as a punishment for his sins).

There are many others that need to go, however. Our work in this corrupt state has just begun.  We've got a long way to go to get rid of the good ol' boys and their built-in mechanisms of corruption.

Here are some ideas:

We need to end straight-party ticket voting options.  Voters need to work at least a little harder than that.

We need to run candidates against EVERY incumbent.  No more free rides.

We need to end the hold the general assembly has over the judiciary that, BTW, enabled Knotts to get his bizarre rulings that threw 250 candidates off the primary ballots.  We need to directly elect SC Supreme Court judges, have the rest appointed by the governor and approved by the legislature, and then have every one of them subject to an up or down vote every four years.  That way the voters can kick them out if they misbehave.  If they get kicked out, they're no longer eligible for that seat.

We need to get rid of the Budget & Control Board or anything similar (as they've attempted to put in place while still claiming reform) that allows the legislators to avoid directly voting on big spending while engaging in massive spending and corruption through their influence on that board.

We need term limits.  Twelve years maximum sounds good to me.

We need to end ALL retirements for ALL elected offices.  We need to end them even for those people currently drawing those retirements.  Screw them if they haven't made other plans!  It's a part-time job and they don't deserve squat for retirement.  Let them go on welfare.

Most of all, we need voters to pay more attention at all times and be ready, willing, able, and even automatically inclined to dump these crooks from office.  95+% of them will get away with whatever we let them get away with.  Eternal vigilance is not easy but it is necessary.  Step up and do your part!

Deb Kelderman is all about returning common sense and fiscal responsibility to one of the most wasteful areas, in terms of human potential and taxpayer dollars, of county government.

From her website:

I believe that the School Board needs to tighten it's financial belt as we the community have.  Right now they are spending 87 cents on the dollar on administration costs which puts only 13 cents towards the education of our children.

I want to stop the spending and put the money to work educating our children so that they can choose their future.  I want each child to be able to realize and reach their dream of success on their terms and not how the school mandates their dreams should be.  We need to find that learning spark that all children have when first introduced to school so that they will be continually challenged.

Call now! (803) 755-8103

My mission is to:

Reduce the spending of tax payer's money.  Not only do we pay taxes towards the education of our children, but we pay high registration fees to have our children use the overused textbooks.  The IPad was placed in the school to reduce the number of books that our children carry home. Here's a good question:  What happened to getting eBooks for the IPads? The School Board says that the South Carolina Department of Education is to blame.

Reduce Administrative costs.  Right now there are 23,000 students in our district, with 176 administrators.  This means that there is one administrator for every 131 students.  My question is:  Do we really need that many?

We have a truancy rate equal to 10 students out of every 100.  That's not acceptable. We need to challenge our students with classes that match their dreams and hopes for the future.  All children have interests that can and must be met; and,

All spending must be reduced and the debt of the district must be paid until it is gone.  There will be no more building of schools unless the area does not have a school that is suitable for our children to be in.  Great people came from small schools and were not hindered by the schools appearance, but changed by their supportive parents and great teachers.  Teacher accountability is only one part of the fix for the classroom.

If the South Carolina Board of Education mandates Teacher Accountability for the Core Curriculum, then we, as parents, must be accountable also.  We are the ones that our children look to as role models.  With both the teachers and parents working together, our children will thrive and succeed.

Signed this 3rd day of May, 2012
