NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR LINDSEY GRAHAM PROTEST

Senator Graham is pushing for amnesty just like he was pushing for new fuel taxes on carbon dioxide emissions to prevent global warming. When will Lindsey start voting like a Republican? The Senate is rushing to pass the 850 page amnesty bill (S.744) and is using many of the same deceptive techniques and accounting tricks that Congress used during the Obamacare debates in 2009.

In 2007, The Heritage Foundation released a report that the amnesty analysis was the estimated net cost to the taxpayers of $2.6 trillion. Earlier this week, they released a new report, which showed that amnesty today will cost $6.3 trillion. One of the big reasons for this is a loophole regarding who can receive benefits in the immigration bill going through the Senate as well as the massive growth in entitlements since 2007.

SC Nullify Obamacare(H.3101)

Senator Leatherman Protest

The Chairman of the Senate Finance committee has refused to assign H.3101, our bill to nullify Obamacare to a sub-committee and give it a hearing. We have until June 6th to get this bill passed and signed by the Governor before this year's session is over. We moved H.3101 when it was stalled in the House Judiciary committee, by door knocking and passing out flyers in the Chairman's neighborhood. It's Leatherman's turn to feel the heat. He has had ample time, and multitudes of phone calls given to him, yet he hasn't budged. We will meet outside of his Real Estate Business this Friday to protest against the one man that is holding up protection from Obamacare. Make signs, and I will bring flyers. We may also drive to his neighborhood and pass out flyers to his neighbors. Historically this is the fastest way to move legislation. It's do or die folks...Unprecedented times require unprecedented measures. Remember we are just defending our families health and Freedom by doing this!

We are urged to let Senator Leatherman know that we are serious about Nullification of Obamacare in South Carolina

From The Greenville Post:

OPINION | SCGOP’s WAR ON CONSERVATIVE DELEGATES

GREENVILLE, S.C. | BY LINDA WEEKS | MAY 5, 2013 |

This year I was a Greenville County half delegate at the SCGOP convention on May 4.  It was disheartening to see the great lengths the SCGOP took to keep the Greenville delegation from having a voice at the convention.

WarOnGREENVILLE

To start, the packets we received did not include the resolutions or rule changes for delegates to read during the convention.

We were not only placed at the back of the room, but we were split up so that our voices would not be as loud. There were only two microphones at the front of the room so that having access to them was tough, and delegates would have to stay standing by the microphones for long periods of time in order to be heard.

From the beginning of the convention when we tried to get a different temporary Chairman,  the microphones were turned off at will.  Betty Poe, Greenville County Chair, was then told that we would be thrown out if we didn’t stop yelling.

Security was then put beside our section. It felt like we were the red-headed stepchildren of the SCGOP. The Chairman allowed voice votes which was amazing since he couldn’t discern half from whole delegates.

Every voice vote was lost.  It was a joke!

Two years ago the candidates running for Chairman were allowed 8 minutes to speak, but this year they were reduced to 2 minutes. Yet Chad Connelly, the sitting Chairman, was given 15 minutes for remarks at the start of the convention which turned into his campaign speech. The whole convention was run as if someone took lessons from Barack Obama himself. Saul Alinsky would be proud!

From the start of the convention it was clear that Greenville County delegates were in the minority.  So why not let them speak?  Why not give Samuel Harms more than 2 minutes to state his case? The only answer is that those in power were scared that Samuel Harms would convince the state delegates of the truth and the establishment could not take that chance.

Unfortunately the whole circus Saturday has turned many folks off from the GOP and rightfully so.  Attendance at the convention and in our precinct reorganization has been decreasing as well.  The median age of the people attending was in the 50′s and 60′s.

What will the Party do when the SCGOP has turned away its base, and the folks that are left start dying off?  There won’t be much of a Party left.

Apparently it seems more important for leaders of the SCGOP to shut down the voices of conservatives rather than to allow them to build up the Party, and actually help the Party live by its platform.

But the crux of the problem is that the SCGOP does not want to abide by the Republican Party platform.  Unfortunately the convention was proof that as long as we have the current leadership in the SCGOP, the Republican Party platform isn’t worth the piece of paper it is written on.

Linda Weeks is currently the Greenville County GOP 2nd Vice Chair until the election on June 3.

Justin Alexander is the GRASSROOTS HERO of the 2013 SCGOP Convention!

Straight from the horse's mouth, here is the person who made the motion for adjournment to cut off the establishment attempt to ram through a slate of proposals that they had neither emailed nor put into delegate packets at the convention.  Talk about ZERO transparency from the SCGOP!  This was a BRILLIANT maneuver and was an in-your-face and richly deserved gesture to the railroad chairman who was caught off-guard and unable to finish the process.  Maybe next time, the chairman will have a little more respect for the people's business instead of putting on yet another dog and pony show.  These comments are from posts Mr. Alexander made in a thread on Facebook:

Justin Alexander:

"You are correct, I did make the motion to adjourn. The primary reason I moved to adjourn is that it was apparent to me that the resolutions were not going to be separated and considered individually or read to the convention at all. In all conventions past, the resolutions to be considered (those coming out of the resolutions committee) have always been provided to us in the delegate packet. I was frankly shocked when our packets hacked any proposed resolutions.

"We were being asked to adopt a whole package (slate) of resolutions that we had never seen. We literally did not know what was in the resolutions being proposed, and it was apparent they were not even going to read to us.

"We had a few resolutions of our own that we would have liked to have tried to bring from the floor, but I spoke to several other people from Greenville and we decided that we simply couldn't risk passing 17 resolutions without knowing what they were in order to attempt the slim possibility that we could bring one of our favorable motions.

" . . . And I completely agree, it was not a good way to end the convention, but I feel like it was forced by the  [resolutions] committee attempting to ram through 17 resolutions as a package (slate) that we hadn't seen.

" . . . Had we not adjourned, I think it was clear we were about to pass 17 resolutions no one had read. That's what I saw the alternative as.

" . . . It's sad that either the officers or the [resolutions] committee made the decision to not provide us with the resolutions in our delegate packages, as has been the practice for as long as I can remember."

Larry Martin Killing Constitutional Carry PDF Print E-mail

Good news bad news
The hidden opponents of your Second Amendment rights began to expose themselves yesterday!

There were two different opportunities to advance Constitutional Carry yesterday and state Senator Larry Martin (R-Pickens) was the key player in stopping both.

Simply put, Constitutional Carry means if you can legally own a weapon, you can carry it, without begging permission from the government.

But before I get to that, here is a report on S308, the Restaurant Carry bill.

It passed the Senate yesterday, but with a curfew.

Isn’t it ironic that the Senate has decided to disarm you when you need it the most -- late at night when crossing a dark parking lot to your car!

Senator Shane Massey (R-Lexington) led this NRA backed compromise amendment to S308.

I got reports from the Senate floor that the only reason many Senators voted for this gun rights curfew is, in their words, "the NRA said it was okay."

I hope that gives you comfort when you are disarmed late at night because of this curfew and confronted by an armed thug!

The compromising Senators will tell you that the Restaurant Carry bill would never have passed without this curfew.

With a 28 – 18 Republican majority in the Senate, it should never have even been in question.

But I understand that some Republicans are gun rights elitist or even down right anti-gun, denying full Second Amendment rights to every law abiding citizen.

But which ones?

We can’t call attention to who they are if we have no voting record!

Yes, we do know a few of the more vocal opponents, but without an up or down vote on the bill without a curfew, we can’t identify all of the Senators who opposed it.

This premature curfew compromise has robbed you of the tool you need to hold your Senator accountable for disarming you late at night, when you need your weapon the most.

But, fortunately, we do have a record of the vote for the curfew amendment.  Like I said, some Senators will tell you Restaurant Carry would never have passed without it.

You can find a list of the 26 Senators who voted to disarm you if you have to leave a restaurant after midnight at this link.

You are left to determine if your Senator was one that would have voted against S308 without the curfew.  But, without an up or down vote on the bill without the curfew amendment, you may never know.

Contact state Senator Shane Massey and tell him how you feel about being disarmed late at night, when you need it the most.  (803)212-6024 and ShaneMassey@scsenate.gov.

Back to Constitutional Carry and Larry Martin.

Senator Larry Martin is the chairman of the Judiciary Committee where S115, Constitutional Carry, is currently on the schedule.

When the Judiciary Committee adjourned last week, S115 was the first bill on the agenda for consideration this week.

That is very important, because with many bills on their agenda, where a bill is placed determines if it is even discussed.

Being first on the schedule ensured the bill a vote this week in committee.

However, when this week’s agenda was published, Larry Martin had moved S115 to LAST on the agenda.  A move that ensured S115 would not make it out of committee.

With a crossover deadline of May 1st, Larry is trying to killed any chance of S115 becoming law this year.

Contact Senator Larry Martin and tell him what you think about his attempt to kill S115!  LarryMartin@scsenate.gov and (803)212-6610.

But his opposition to S115 didn’t stop there.

Perhaps foreseeing what Larry Martin would do in Judiciary Committee, the primary sponsor of the S115, Senator Lee Bright (R-Spartanburg) decided to put Constitutional Carry up as amendment to S308, the Restaurant Carry bill.

This now seemed to be the only chance to get Constitutional Carry enacted this year.

True to form, Larry Martin objected to the Constitutional Carry amendment using "Rule 24".

Rule 24 says that an amendment cannot be made if it is not "germane" or relevant to the main bill.

Glenn McConnell, the President of the Senate, agreed with Larry Martin and ruled the Constitutional Carry amendment out of order; killing it without a vote.

Senator Larry Martin is dead set on killing Constitutional Carry and is using every tool in his playbook to do so.

Contact Senator Larry Martin and tell him what you think about his attempts to kill Constitutional Carry. LarryMartin@scsenate.gov and (803)212-6610.

Senator Lee Bright will continue to use every procedure he can to get S115 passed this year.  He needs your support!

It is CRITICAL that you contact your Senator TODAY and tell him to support Lee Bright’s efforts!  Tell him to vote with Lee Bright to bring S115 to a vote in the Senate.

You can find your Senator and his contact information at this link.

The Politician Protection Act
It’s much worse than I could have imagined!

The new "politician protection bill" is grossly mislabeled an "ethics reform bill".

If passed, it likely will be then end of grass roots activism.

I promise, this is no exaggeration!

I’ve already told you that H3945 would remove criminal penalties for politicians who violate the state ethics law.

After more study, I’ve discovered something even worse!

It may require any unpaid citizen activist, if acting on the request of another person, to pay a $200 fee and register as a lobbyist!

Unbelievable!

South Carolina defines a lobbyist as, "any person who is employed, appointed, or retained, with or without compensation, by another person to influence by direct communication with public officials or public employees".

But anyone who receives no compensation and spends less than $500 on their lobbying efforts is exempt under the current law from registering and paying the $200 fee.

This new politician protection bill eliminates that exception!

Are you the head of a grassroots group?

In order to contact your state Senator or Representative you’ll have to pay $200 and register as a lobbyist!

Has your grassroots group asked you to contact your Senator or Representative?

You’ll have to register as a lobbyist and pay $200 before you do!

This is no joke!

The General Assembly is tired of us pesky citizens bothering them and is working hard to shut us down!

This must be stopped NOW!

The House could vote on H3945 as soon as Wednesday, so it is absolutely critical that you contact your Representative RIGHT NOW!

This bill was rammed through subcommittee and committee hearings last week without being shown to the public.

No one had a copy of the text until AFTER it has passed both subcommittee and committee!

In fact, it wasn’t available until about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, a full day after it was approved by the Judiciary committee.

The more we study this bill, the worse it looks!

No wonder they didn’t want to publish it before the committee hearing.

They knew the public would be outraged!

So don’t delay, please call your state Representative today and demand that he oppose H3945, the "politician protection bill"!

It is NOT an improvement in ethics laws!

It is worse . . .  much, much, worse than what we have today!

Contact your state Representative today!

You can find your Representative and his contact information at this link.

Thanks for all you do!
